The stadium is located to the east of the general sanctuary area, and was the site of many sporting events at the ancient Olympic Games. The track that forms its circumference is 697ft long and 94ft wide. It is estimated that the stadium, with its mud seats for commoners and stone platforms for judges, could seat 50,000 spectators.
